Denzil "Outta States #2" 11.04.2008 NB THE MP£ IS NOW CORRECTED< I HAVE TESTED THE DOWNLOAD ITS OK NOW> SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE 1. plaid - punch up (wozsonik vox)
enjoy, this was done in one take, it was not planned out it's just a load of tunes I am liking at the moment... I got about 50mins in on my lunch and it's a lovely mix. The first half is really deep and suggestive, sauntering along with bubbling sub tones and subtle keys. When the hook from sad piano trickles out of the mix's dubby intro it's like a release of tension you didn't realise was there. Lifts the whole composition and sets the scene for the livelier second half. Looking forward to hearing the rest on the way home tonight. Well in Denzil la! Jazzbo - COmment taken from circus forum liverpool -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just listened to this for the first time at last today aswell. Denzil, what can i say... alongside Tom Middleton, your mixes represent whats best about 'real' house music. It has the feel of a mix that was created with feeling rather than electronic wizadry, and this is perfectly suited to this kind of house music. The way its all segued together is lovely, and the end result is far more than the sum of its parts, the jackin' beats of the first couple of tracks make way for some gorgeous house sounds, and it blends really nicely into the deeper house sound, a welcome and rather brilliant escape from the electronica of 2008. Great stuff |

Incidentally I was planning on uploading a deep house mix this week as well (a little bit tougher than Denzils I think) but I'll save that for when everyone's had a piece of this action. Well in Denzil la! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just listened to this for the first time at last today aswell. Great stuff About denzilEntering the 90’s as a lover of hardcore punk, dub reggae and ska it is hard to imagine how Denzil fell in love with underground electronic music but he did. Exposure to records like Humanoid and artists such as the Hypnotist brought to his attention the possibilities and the energy behind this new music. The real love affair with house music came when he attended a night called Voodoo at the legendary Mardi Gras Club where Nottingham’s DiY where Hosting there regular Bounce night. Denzil’s initial moves toward being a dj came through a short lived broadcast of Merseyland Alternative Radio around Christmas 1990. Two ordinary stereo decks and a maplin mixer set up in a defunct bathroom was enough for him to catch the bug. It wasn’t until late 1995 that he first owned a pair of decks and by 1996 was the proud owner of a pair of technics 1210’s. In early 1996 he entered a dj competition at the baa bar and in the company of some well known local dj’s Denzil managed to make the final. Despite not winning the comp he secured a number of guest spots on the Sugarshack Sound System playing the emerging speed garage and more underground house sounds, gigs and a number of private parties followed before a midweek spell at The Magnet during 1999 early 2000. A number of other appearances were followed by a complete break from the scene before he began appearing as Denzil in February 2005. Appearances at Disco Science, Igloo/Aztec, The Drezla Lounge, JBL all nighters and a residency at Serenity in Brighton have ensured 2005 has been a welcome return to the decks for Denzil. Musically expect quirky underground house, breaks, tech house and progressive, expect the unexpected and check him out if you can.
